Historic Highlights/Interesting Information:

Akamai was the 4th K50 constructed in the San Diego Kettenburg Boatworks Yard. Entered in the 1965 Transpac race, dismasted 1000 miles into race, yet still finished. Restored from 
2009-2011 at Koehler Kraft Boatyard. Completely refit and celebrated her 50th anniversary in July of 2012.

Historic Highlights/Interesting Information:

Previously owned by Paul and Wendy Peterson (SWYC) for 29 years, who acquired her in 1978. Athena has raced in AMSS races and the Newport to Ensenada Race over the years. She finished second in her class in the 2009 Newport to Ensenada Race. In more recent times, she has been used principally for cruising on San Diego Bay and in near coastal waters.

Historic Highlights/Interesting Information:

A Beetle Cat is a 12-foot-4-inch (3.76 m) catboat first built in 1920 in New Bedford, Massachusetts by members of the Beetle family. Over 4,000 have been built. Beetle, Inc., now in Wareham, Massachusetts, is the sole builder of Beetle Cat boats.

Historic Highlights/Interesting Information:

Catboats have a single sail on a single mast set forward on the bow. Catboat’s have a beam almost half their length which makes them very stable boats.

 

This catboat is currently under reconstruction by Koehler Kraft.
